AirMagnet Enterprise Wins Second Consecutive Network Computing Editor's Choice Award

AirMagnet, the leader in wireless LAN (WLAN) security and performance solutions, today announced that CMP Media LLC's Network Computing named AirMagnet Enterprise as the Editor's Choice of Distributed Wireless Security Monitors for the second consecutive year.

AirMagnet Enterprise 5.2 bested competing products from AirDefense, Network Chemistry, AirTight and Highwall in a thorough evaluation performed by the magazine's editors. The AirMagnet wireless Intrusion Prevention System was chosen for its advanced rogue AP detection and location, ability to provide more live detail and identify more advanced attacks than competitors and the competitive pricing made possible by its "SmartEdge" architecture. AirMagnet Enterprise also won the Editor's Choice in the publication's previous review of wireless security monitors -- conducted in 2004 -- and has never been defeated in an independent, head-to-head editorial review. In the June 23rd article, "Distributed Wireless Security Monitors: Time to Tighten the Wireless Net," author Frank Bulk said AirMagnet Enterprise 5.2 provided "more live detail on what was going on in (their) wireless space than its competitors" and "had the best success identifying the more advanced attacks." AirMagnet Enterprise detects more than 130 security and policy violations and automatically defends the network as threats arise in real-time, providing the live detail that network security professionals depend on. With sensors acting as wireless clients to assist in rogue AP detection and blocking, AirMagnet is able to locate and isolate potential threats before the network is affected. AirMagnet Enterprise also includes pre-configured policies tied to specific healthcare, financial and government regulations, making it ideal for facilities with higher security needs. "Network Computing's exhaustive evaluations closely resemble customer evaluations, and give enterprises an excellent sense of what to expect from our products," said Dean Au, president and CEO of AirMagnet. "This award is particularly meaningful for us, and winning two years in a row is a great honor." Shortly after Network Computing's evaluation, AirMagnet released AirMagnet Enterprise 6.0, which features significant upgrades to AirMagnet Enterprise 5.2. Among its improvements, AirMagnet Enterprise 6.0 integrates with Cisco's wireless LAN solutions engine (WLSE), detects new "day-zero" wireless attacks and integrates AirMagnet's reporting functions.
