3e Technologies International (3eTI) announced today that Intel Capital has become a minority shareholder. As a leader in secure wireless technology, 3eTI supplies client, infrastructure, and management platforms supporting a broad set of middleware capabilities to enable applications such as mesh networks, RFID, video, remote sensors, and location- based asset and information tracking. 3eTI's customers include federal and defense agencies, as well as industrial, transportation, enterprise, and commercial markets. "Our collaboration with Intel will be beneficial for our existing and future customers, especially in U.S. government market segments," said Steven Chen, President and CEO of 3eTI. He added, "Our wireless solutions and roadmap are compatible with Intel's current WiFi and WiMax technologies." "Increasingly, WLANs are being deployed to improve network access and communication," said Marlon Woolforde, Strategic Planning Manager in Intel's Wireless Networking Group. "The combination of 3eTI's crypto client software and Intel(R) Centrino(TM) mobile technology enables the mobility and productivity our customers desire while achieving the rigorous federal security standards for sensitive communication." 3eTI has licensed the Intel(R) Centrino(TM) mobile technology driver source code and used this to develop a FIPS 140-2 Validated(TM) wireless client for Intel(R) PRO/Wireless based systems. This client, the 3e-010F-C, meets rigorous security requirements which can be used to help protect sensitive communications. The FIPS 140-2 standard is the benchmark where protection of data is essential, such as defense, healthcare, utility, and financial market segments.
