Small firms face IT security risk

CBI launches IT security guide

Inadequate IT security is putting small and medium-sized firms and their supply chain partners at risk, according to the Confederation of British Industry (CBI). Despite 60 per cent of medium-sized firms using the internet in their supply chain, 52 per cent have poor, or no security to cope with online attacks, says the CBI, which yesterday (Wednesday) launched an IT security guide for small and medium-sized businesses. ‘In the future we will probably need to start thinking of the supply chain as something more like a business eco-system, where it is all the more vital for companies to protect their information assets,’ said trade and industry minister Alun Michael.
