Microsoft to release eight patches on Tuesday

Microsoft announced today that it will release eight security patches for vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows, Office and Visual Studio next Tuesday.

Among the eight fixes, three of them will fix flaws in Office, some of which Microsoft has rated as "critical." It is likely that these will address vulnerabilities found in Word just before last month's patch release, for which Microsoft has yet to release patches.

Three patches to be released on Tuesday are to fix critical flaws in Windows. The last two cover problems classed as "important" that occur when running Windows and Office, as well as Windows and Visual Studio.

In addition to the security releases, Microsoft said it plans to release two non-security High-Priority Updates on Microsoft Update (MU) and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). It will also provide an updated version of the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.
