PatchLink Acquires Harris Stat Products to Deliver an Integrated Vulnerability Management Solution for the Enterprise
PatchLink® Corporation today announced the acquisition of STAT® Guardian Vulnerability Management Suite from Harris® Corporation, an international communications and information technology company serving government and commercial markets in more than 150 countries. With the acquisition, PatchLink enhances its market-leading vulnerability management solution to help enterprises address risk management and policy-based compliance. In addition, the acquisition advances the company's strategy to deliver a holistic end point security platform with a single, policy-based architecture and consolidated compliance reporting for complete protection across the enterprise.
"This acquisition is part of our ongoing commitment to help customers address corporate governance issues and risk management by integrating the industry's best remediation engine with the leading vulnerability assessment solution under a single offering," PatchLink Chairman and CEO Pat Clawson stated. "In addition, this acquisition represents an important step towards delivery of a holistic end point security management framework that will integrate future technology acquisitions as we continue to broaden our product offering.
As part of the agreement, PatchLink has acquired the STAT® Command Center, STAT® Report Center, STAT® Analyzer and STAT® Scanner which are already integrated with PatchLink's flagship product, PatchLink Update. The combined solution is currently deployed by some of the largest enterprises in the world as a result of an existing OEM partnership.
Harris' technology uniquely complements PatchLink's solution to deliver a hybrid architecture that provides enterprises with complete visibility into their IT infrastructure by combining agent- and network-based vulnerability assessment for complete auditing and compliance reporting. With the addition of Harris' robust database of vulnerabilities, PatchLink has created the industry's largest repository of more than 19,000 patches, security updates, and vulnerabilities. This powerful combination allows enterprises to enhance their security posture, achieve policy compliance and reduce business risk - all through a centralized management console, streamlining the vulnerability management process.
"In today's enterprise IT environments, there are multiple agents on desktops and servers performing redundant tasks with no unified management, making it more difficult and costly to manage," said IDC Research Director Charles Kolodgy. "Enterprises are looking for holistic solutions to help mitigate corporate risks, handle compliance with industry regulations and eliminate threats. Through this acquisition, PatchLink provides enterprises a single view into their organizations' security posture through consolidated infrastructure management while allowing them to easily monitor, manage and improve their network security."
Now available worldwide, the PatchLink Vulnerability Management Solution simplifies the entire vulnerability management lifecycle including thorough asset discovery and agent deployment, comprehensive vulnerability assessment and prioritization, intelligent remediation and validation, and complete auditing and compliance reporting. The robust and flexible architecture supports centralized or distributed IT environments and provides the following:
- Proactively discover unmanaged and rogue devices then deploy agents automatically
- Identify and report on a wide range of vulnerabilities using a hybrid architecture that combines network- and agent-based scanning for a complete view of the infrastructure
- Prioritize and remediate end points based on risk-assessment and internal policies
- Inventory and report on network assets including desktops, servers, routers, printers, switches, software, services and wireless access points.
Rick Simonian, Vice President, Homeland Security Programs for Harris' Government Communications Systems Division, stated: "Combining Harris STAT and PatchLink's complementary solutions will greatly benefit our customers. The acquisition ensures that our customers receive an even higher level of integration and technical expertise, the most complete product portfolio, and the best customer service in the industry."
The Harris STAT Guardian Suite was the first vulnerability assessment product to receive Common Criteria certification, a critical requirement by the US government for use in national security systems, and will now be available to PatchLink customers when they purchase the Vulnerability Management Solution.
