AppGate USB stick client provides a portable way to access information and applications securely

AppGate’s USB stick client provides a portable, smart and robust way to access information and applications securely. AppGate has now released version 1.5 of the portable end-point USB stick client taking secure access to the next level.

The enhancements in version 1.5 enable the user to run AppGate on the USB stick in a totally closed environment. Company resources are accessed through bundled applications on the USB. The PC hard drive is not used in any way, providing greater protection and security when users need to connect to enterprise network resources.

With the new version 1.5, the AppGate USB stick client is an effective and low cost way for businesses to provide employees with secure access to the corporate network, and is a valuable tool for ensuring business continuity in case of emergency situations when employees need to access the corporate network from home PCs, laptops, and even internet cafes if adverse weather, transport strikes or virus outbreaks prevent them from getting to the office.

According to AppGate’s CTO Tomas Olovsson, “When used together with AppGate’s powerful and flexible access rights management system, the USB client offers total freedom for users to use virtually any end-point device to access sensitive data securely. The latest improvements that we have developed for the USB client feature among other things Ubuntu 9.04 that makes it easier to connect to wireless networks. Version 1.5 of the USB client is an easy-to-use and cheap alternative to NAC products and system owners can be confident that the clients being used are secure enough to be trusted, regardless of the users’ location. AppGate is by far the most advanced security solution today.”

The AppGate system makes it possible to integrate all types of access: Mobile, PC/Mac, PDA, in one single solution without having to accept reduced security or functionality. The users will get exactly the access they need when they need it – no more and no less. One set of users might be restricted to downloading e-mail and synchronizing their calendars on their mobile phones, while others who are running the required AV software on their mobile devices might have access to SAP and the CRM system as well.

AppGate security servers build on existing proven functionality such as:· Application Layer firewall
