How It Works
Protecting your network with Websense Hosted Email Security is easy. Simply point your MX records to the Websense datacenters and all your email is inspected before it reaches your network or is routed to its outbound destination. Websense datacenters are load-balanced, redundant, highly available clusters located in eleven locations worldwide.
All Websense datacenters have been certified to ISO27001 standards to provide the highest degree of global and localized security, privacy, and confidentiality. Websense SLAs guarantee uptime and provide competitive spooling and disaster recovery provisions as standard elements of the service.

Hosted Antivirus
Websense Hosted Antivirus provides guaranteed protection from known viruses as outlined in the terms and conditions of the SLA contract. Before email reaches your network, Websense datacenters process each message through commercial antivirus engines, and Websense ThreatSeekerTM technology takes a hash of the email. If a hash signature pattern is detected, ThreatSeeker technology examines the message to verify whether it is a threat. Before email reaches your network, Websense datacenters filter each message for spam. Using a combination of techniques including digital fingerprints, heuristics, lexical analysis, Bayesian filtering, and optical content recognition, the Websense Hosted Antispam module attributes a spam score to the message and takes action accordingly depending on configuration. Websense also includes a comprehensive interface to allow end users to manage their own email quarantines and customize their own blacklists and whitelists.

Websense Hosted encryption provides TLS encryption between businesses and park-and pull encryption between individuals. encryption can be based on policy, group, user, or can be triggered specifically by the user.
